The Pandemic Postcard Project

The Pandemic Postcard Project

Salt Spring Edition

Created as a literacy and/or art-promoting project, started by Literacy Alberni, that fosters community connection and legacy-keeping through storytelling and sharing. Islanders were asked to share their pandemic experiences on a postcard in whichever way they liked. In writing, drawing, photos or collage. They responded in a heartfelt manner.

Why create this project? We’re connected primarily through technology these days through our own profiles and pages. The goal of this project is to celebrate that, while also creating a lasting, physical record of our resilience.

We’d like to thank the writers, the artists, and the people of our community here on Salt Spring Island for participating in this project.

The display was held at the Salt Spring Island Public Library for the month of August, 2020. The postcards will be available for viewing at the Salt Spring Archives from September 1st, 2020, and onward.
