Are you interested in writing with a small group of supportive seniors?
Meeting weekly, we will use a variety of prompts to help tell stories from our own lives and experiences. The group will also occasionally write fictional stories utilizing prompts: words, images, quotes, music. Sharing will be optional. Discussions will be supportive and confidential.
When: Wednesdays, starting July 6, 1:00-2:15/2:20 (12 weeks)
Where: Salt Spring Seniors, 379 Lower Ganges Rd.
Facilitator: Sam Barlow
About Sam:
Sam has years of personal experience writing stories, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as memoir pieces. For almost 10 years she was a mentor with a weekly writers group at the high school on Salt Spring. Although the group was mostly youth, it also included adult participants. Sam notes: “Through Literacy I had the privilege to work with seniors at Greenwoods helping them to tell some of the stories of their lives. I believe our stories are important to record and to share. They capture not only our own lives but also the times in which we lived. Even in imaginary stories there is always a bit of us somewhere in there.”
